The Lorcor Tide Mill

The Lorcor Tide Mill is one of the oldest surviving structures in Sevtalwick. It was designed by the engineer Ruadh Ardsilquen and completed in 1933. The structure stands 38 metres tall.

Ruadh Ardsilquen drew up the plans after a public subscription raised funds for the project. Construction took three seasons, using stone quarried a few miles inland. When it opened in 1933, local newspapers described it as the most ambitious public work the town had attempted.

The Lorcor Tide Mill was restored in the late twentieth century and remains a familiar landmark for residents and visitors.
